Story updates and upcoming events

One of my latest stories includes an audio story that I had the opportunity to do for one of my fellow students, Lindsey Graber. Lindsey is a junior Religion & Philosophy major and she presented her paper "Eve’s Courage, Adam’s Nobility: Friedrich Nietzsche’s Gendered Views of Courage and Nobility" in the library on March 26. She presented in front of some of her classmates and teachers and offered a Q&A time after her lecture. Listen here.

I also wrote a story over Pat Ross this week that was printed in The Collegian. It focused on his collection of board games (he owns 762 board games). I would say this is one of my favorite stories that I have done. You can read it here.
I received an email from him yesterday. He said, "Wonderful article.  You did a nice job weaving together a fun story about me and my gaming friends.  Thanks for putting in the effort." It was nice to get that kind of feedback from him on this story. It was also a great opportunity to meet professors outside of my department.

Upcoming events:
The SC Youth Symphony will present their spring concert "Our Journey" on Sunday at 6 p.m. in Richardson.

Bishop Richard Wilke will lead chapel on April 1.

The last day for seniors to apply for graduation is 5 p.m. on April 1.

Dr. Joseph Dongell will present the Parkhurst Lecture at 7 p.m. on April 1 in Wroten.

Next Friday (April 3) is Good Friday. There will be no classes and SC offices will be closed.

April 8 is Assessment Day. (I have heard that the chapel team has something fun planned for that day!)

Music and theater students will begin their recitals in the next few weeks and into the end of the school year. I will have more about those as they get closer.

There will be 2 more weeks of the SC Lent Blog. Keep up with it here.

Story updates & spring break

Last Friday I went to the Christian Howes concert in Richardson. I put together a story and video and it is now up on UpdateSC.
Check it out here.

Last Thursday, I got to take pictures at the SC track invitational. This was the first time I have ever done track pictures and I had a lot of fun! It was a great experience, I got some pretty good pictures (which made me happy), and I got to watch some of my friends run! To see one of my pictures, click here

I will also have the board games story posted next week. It will be featured in The Collegian which will come out on March 25.

This week was spring break. Dorms open on Sunday, the dining hall will open at breakfast on Monday, and classes begin again Monday morning.

The SC Lent blog will resume posts this week. We took a short break for spring break. Be sure to check it out for a new post Monday-Friday at lentsc.blogspot.com.

Christian Howes and upcoming events

Christian Howes and his group, Southern Exposure, performed in Richardson Auditorium tonight at 7:30. I will have a video package and a story on UpdateSC tomorrow. I was also fortunate enough to get an interview with Christian Howes. Check out a picture from soundcheck below:
My next stories will include a feature over Dr. Pat Ross and his love for board games which will appear in the March Collegian on March 25. Another story I am working on is a story over faculty/staff changes and resignations.

Upocoming events:
Today starts spring break for students. The dining hall is closed until Monday, March 23 at breakfast. Classes will resume March 23.

Regional solo and small ensemble contest will take place at Southwestern on March 28. Local high school musicians will be on campus to perform for judges. Their scores at this event will determine if they advance to state contest.
